Verifying the Elusive Proceedings:

A Review of Available Sources

Pages 1-11 | Published online: 26 Oct 2008

Abstract

Proceedings from scientific meetings are challenging and often difficult to identify and locate. They come in a variety of titles including transactions, symposia, colloquia, and conferences. They may be published as special issues of journals, as monographic series, as books, or simply as abstracts. Two important indexes are discussed, Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings (ISTP) and Biological Abstracts/Reports, Reviews and Meetings (BA/RRM). Their special features and differences are highlighted. Online databases are discussed as viable options.
