Summary
This article uses the Hawaii Holocaust Project as a case study to describe the research strategies and reference sources used in conducting videotaped oral history interviews to document the World War II experiences of three groups of Hawaii residents. It includes a description of the project itself and the research undertaken before interviews were conducted, followed by a discussion a research issue unexpectedly encountered in the course of the project and efforts made to address it. It continues with a brief account of the transcript review process, followed by a description of the reference sources used in adding explanatory notes to the transcripts.
