PREPARATION OF PROPOSALS FOR ONLINE BIBLIOGRAPHIC SERVICES IN ACADEMIC, GOVERNMENT, AND INDUSTRIAL LIBRARIES

Abstract

A description is given of the planning steps that must be taken prior to the preparation of a formal proposal for the initiation of online search services in academic, government, or industrial libraries. Following the analysis of key factors involved in such service, guidelines are presented for the format and content of the proposal to be submitted to higher management. The author's experience in technical libraries with the planning process for online services is reviewed briefly.
