Abstract

Americans traditionally avoid reading articles in science journals published in foreign languages. By way of response the publishers of some of these journals have progressively increased the proportion of articles in English. That trend is studied here for German basic science journals. Trends tables such as the one reported (for 18 years of 35 journals) can serve librarians in their future decisions about storage and purchase.
