ONLINE AND MANUAL SEARCHING IN A NOT-FOR-PROFIT SYSTEMS ENGINEERING FIRM

Abstract

Online services in library operations in the MITRE Corporation's Washington Center, introduced in 1977, have steadily gained in popularity and frequency of use over manual operations. Library staff and the users of information alike perfer online searching for its economy, convenience, and effectiveness. Library management appreciate online services in reference and technical services because they increase staff productivity. Manual services today have smaller place in library operations, as online services affect many aspects of library mangement.
