A Computer-Based Routing System for Serials

Pages 21-29 | Published online: 18 Oct 2008

Abstract

The routing of journals as a means of disseminating information has been a function of the Schering Corporation library since its inception. The original concept of convenience to the user expanded to that of necessity as decentralization increased and multi-New Jersey locations had to be served. The inability of manual systems employed to permit additions, deletions, address changes, and a logical flow of material created a demand for a more flexible method. A computer-based routing system provided the solution.
