Preservation of Materials in Science and Technology Libraries

Pages 3-13 | Published online: 18 Oct 2008

Abstract

Preservation and conservation are important issues in science and technology libraries, but not many programs are reported in the literature. There are reports on the preservation, restoration and care of many types of material of importance in general library literature. A summary of some of the most recent materials commonly found in sci-tech libraries is reported, including sources for information on the care of architectural drawings, archival materials, electronic information formats, manuscripts, maps and cartographic materials, microformats, motion pictures and videotapes, photographs, slides, and surround recordings.
