Abstract

Describes the development of interest among scientists in the subjects of dynamical systems, fractal geometry and chaos, particularly the work of Benoit Mandelbrot and Mitchell Feigenbaum. Following that there is alist of recommended literature, divided into the three groupings of popular treatments, textbooks and surveys, and monographs. The selections constitute important titles on dynamical systems from the mathematician's point of view.
