Health Care Information Resources Over the Internet and Their Utilization in India

Abstract

Highlights the growth of health care information and the impact of information technology for its dissemination. Discusses the various search tools such as File Transfer Protocol, Network terminal, Gopher, Archie, World Wide Web, Browsers, Search engines, Directories, and e-mail lists, with medical information examples. Presents a select list of medical sites in specialized areas, a list of journals world wide and Indian medical sites. Concludes that India has the potential to come up with more sites and that the Internet would revolutionize the ways of dissemination of health care information to professionals of various specialties.
