A Guide to the Literature of Evolution

Pages 79-101 | Published online: 13 Oct 2008

Abstract

Evolution is a synthesizing science, in that it draws its primary information from a host of biological fields. Darwin drew his conclusions from studies of anatomy, behavior, biogeography, and physiology. More recently, embryology, molecular biology and genetics have all contributed to the refinement of our understanding of the history of life. Because of this quality of dispersed contribution to the field, navigation aids are invaluable, and this article will help in the access and management of source material.
