Recessionary Practices in Law Libraries

Pages 51-60 | Published online: 26 Oct 2008

Abstract

Libraries have suffered in recent years from the adverse effects on their budgets of recession and inflation. Law libraries may be particularly susceptible to such problems. To determine the impact and extent of budget problems in law libraries, the author conducted a survey of all accredited law school libraries in the United States. The survey shows that many law libraries have been forced to change their operations and scale down their collection development plans in response to budget cuts or inadequate increases.
