ABSTRACT
To evaluate the effectiveness of a school-based sex education intervention in increasing safer sex knowledge and changing attitudes towards sex and contraceptive use an educational intervention was carried out amongst Chinese secondary school students in Hong Kong. Students in intervention schools received an interactive educational talk. Self-administered questionnaires (pre-, post- and follow-up test) were use dto collect information on demographics and knowledge of and attitudes towards HIV/AIDS and attitudes towards contraceptive use. The intervention had increased participants' knowledge of and attitude towards sex and towards the use of contraceptive. The weaknesses and strengths of the intervention are discussed in the paper.
