Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine change and stability in values among mid-life adults over time. Using longitudinal data from A Study of Leisure During Adulthood, values were measured using Kahle's List of Values. Data collected enabled researchers to examine mid-life adult values, or wants-out-of-life, without interruption for a ten year period of time. Findings revealed that wants-out-of-life remained relatively stable over time. Self-respect, self-fulfillment, and a sense of accomplishment received the highest overall mean ratings.
