The author narrates the experience of growing her hair long after years of keeping it short, and ponders the “the socioculturo-sexual implications of hair growth.” While her lesbian friends respond with curiosity and doubt, the rest of the world,Including her grandmother, wants to see long hair as a return to traditional (straight) femininity.
