SUMMARY
This essay explores the erotically resignified roles of Mommy, Daddy, girl and boy in butch and femme. Using Freud's “Case of Homosexuality in a Woman” and personal narrative, the author focuses on the primal need for family and questions how, rather than why, butches and femmes inhabit these powerful, consensual roles in butch/femme relationships.
