Pages 45-55 | Published online: 05 Oct 2008

Abstract

This essay describes the friendship between lesbian ex-lovers who become roommates for a year. Using personal narrative, the author explores how the two women create and maintain a friendship that survives the pain, anger, and mourning of their romantic breakup. The essay also examines the spaciousness of the relationship as the two women move from being lovers to friends to platonic roommates.
