DOCLINE and Freeshare

Time for Change and Time for Action

Pages 65-71 | Published online: 11 Oct 2008

ABSTRACT

The library that can fill Interlibrary Loan requests (ILLs) quickly is touted as a shining star with all library patrons. It is known throughout the institution for its ability to “get anything quickly.” This reputation can provide many benefits. Gone are the days of relying on ALA forms and the US Postal Service to deliver ILLs. Informal reciprocal lending groups such as Freeshare have been formed to help libraries contain the cost of ILL service.
