Abstract

Most industry observers agree that the adoption of personal digital assistants (PDAs) in health care is occurring at an explosive rate. While literature pertaining to the use of PDAs by doctors abounds, there is scant data available about PDA usage by other health professionals. To find out more about non-medical use of PDAs in a hospital setting, a study was conducted during the Spring of 2002 on a small convenience sample of hospital administrators. Results showed that PDA usage among non-medical personnel is growing, and that users are interested in learning more about the expanded functionality of these services.
