Abstract
The historical development of the medical library of the University of Nigeria, established in 1967, is traced. Located within the University Teaching Hospital, the Library is readily accessible to the College of Medicine staff, hospital staff, medical students and other health professionals. It has material and facilities adequate for research in the field of medicine. Problems facing it are highlighted, but there is hope for future development in terms of equipment, staffing and services.
