Abstract
Physical therapy is a growing and rapidly changing health care profession in the 21st century. This paper discusses the current changes occurring in the profession and the effects on the information needs of physical therapists. The analysis evaluates past research and some current opinions from interviews in order to obtain a foundation and understanding of their changing needs. The concepts of direct access and evidence-based practice are identified and discussed as the most significant factors affecting the information needs of physical therapists. Overall, the interviews and analysis demonstrate a need for current needs assessments and surveys concerning library services and how health science librarians can better meet the needs of the modern profession.
