Transformational Change in a Community Hospital Library

Pages 5-11 | Received 17 Oct 2007, Accepted 20 Oct 2006, Published online: 07 Sep 2008

Abstract

The need for hospital librarians to anticipate and respond to organizational and environmental changes quickly has never been greater. Forces such as budget cuts, cost of space in hospitals (and need for that space to be profitable), perceived free availability of resources on the Internet, and rising costs of both online and print materials continue to threaten the development and existence of hospital libraries. This article describes how one librarian successfully used the transformational change process to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
