Abstract
Sandor Ferenczi, a Hungarian psychoanalyst and member of Freud's inner circle, was one of the first to write about trauma in the clinical setting. His writings on both the dynamics of trauma and treatment remain relevant to current study. In this paper, two Ferenczian concepts, identification with the aggressor and introjection, are discussed as they apply to trauma and retraumatization in professional mental health training. A detailed clinical case study is then presented.
