Abstract

The religious faith and spirituality of patients suffering from dissociative disorders has a vital though often undervalued role to play in the treatment process. This article will examine some reasons for this state of affairs, provide a rationale and strategy for the assessment of patient religiousness, and suggest some practical avenues for utilizing the religious and spiritual dimension in psychotherapy. Concluding recommendations derived from this analysis for the dissociative disorders field are presented.
