Pages 135-145 | Published online: 20 Oct 2008

Summary

This paper presents a variety of issues that intersect in preparing personnel for intergenerational work. It addresses such issues as the scope of intergenerational practice, the expanded roles of personnel in intergenerational programs, the various competencies and skills needed for work, and the need to integrate intergenerational preparation into the formal systems of training and education for human services. The author suggests that the final challenge in the advancement and training of practitioners for intergenerational work is the establishment of academic sponsorship in the field of intergenerational practice.
