Abstract
Children's perception of their remarried family's strengths is the focus of this paper. The sample of forty-four children were, at the time of the study, residing in a remarried family. The subject's parents, half of whom cohabited prior to remarriage, had been randomly selected and had participated in an earlier study. The design of this descriptive study was to compare the children grouped by sex, age at the time of their parents' remarriage, age at the time of the study, and whether or not their families had cohabited prior to remarriage on the scores of family strength and on various perceptual items. In general, the findings indicated that although the children did not deny that there were difficulties involved with stepfamily adjustment, they, nonetheless, rated their family relatively high in family strength.
