Abstract
Questionnaires from a women's Bar association (n = 361) and follow-up interviews revealed a particular need by women lawyers for a system of support and referral for matrimonial clients. This is a particularly important social work opportunity for the independent practitioner, who can make connections with community Bar associations, and offer information, programs, and counseling resources for clients whose needs far exceed those that lawyers can serve. Lawyers' experience with such clients, and suggested plans of action for independent social workers, are described.
