Abstract
The rapid growth of the for-profit sector in the provision of social services traditionally administered under non-profit or government auspices creates a problem and challenge for the social work profession. Social work education has not been able to keep pace with the rapid changes taking place, although increasing employment in proprietary structures makes it essential for social work students to be more knowledgeable about auspices. This paper presents a review of the issues from the perspective of the social policy curriculum and the learning necds of social work students. Needed areas for ncw conceptualization and content in the social work curriculum are identified.
