Social Work Education for Private Practice

Abstract

Should social work students be educated for private practice? This article addresses the issues around this question and offers suggestions for including private practice in a classroom setting. While the primary goal of social work education is to train for agency-based practice, private practice has now become an integral part of the social work field and needs to be approached as such in social work education.
