Abstract

American social workers are increasingly drawn to the study and practice of international social work. As the economy becomes global, as nations become more interdependent and as democratic capitalism emerges as the new paradigm for development, social work in this country is challenged to reexamine its theoretical orientation and intellectual isolationism.
