Brief Crisis Stabilization of an African American Woman

Integrating Cultural and Ecological Approaches

ABSTRACT

This article explores the usefulness of integrating cultural and ecological approaches in the brief treatment of an African American woman in an urban community-based crisis treatment facility. A theoretical overview is followed by descriptions of how cultural factors influenced the assessment of the case as well as the intervention that was utilized. Implications for practice and recommendations for future studies are noted.
