SUMMARY

This paper presents the authors' theoretical formulations regarding the development, maintenance and evolution of personal, conjugal and family myths. In addition, several methods for assessing mythological themes are presented. These include the use of empirically derived instruments, structured assessment interviews and behavioral indicators. Several intervention strategies for editing mythological themes also are presented.
