Partnerships from the Beginning Between Parents and Practitioners

Abstract

This paper addresses what is meant by effective partnerships between parents of very young children with special needs and the professionals seeking to help them. It addresses the obstacles, both past and present, to effective partnerships as well as past successes. It examines the strategies for breaking down barriers in order to forge solid and lasting alliances for the benefit of all concerned.
