Abstract
This article will start with the opportunities available to the psychologist who elects to practice in a small town. It is presented by a personal narrative of the broad growth of his practice, following a serendipitous experience wherein he volunteered to be a consultant to a community board which was being established. The article covers the writer's involvement in a number of volunteer activities wherein his professional expertise as a psychologist was sought, and of the professional practice opportunities which evolved from his volunteer participation.
