Abstract
Creativity represents the struggle to develop, affirm, and celebrate individuality. The creative patient can use creativity to contend with life, to distort it, or escape from it. The therapeutic success of the therapist's work depends on the ability to recognize one's own being separate from the patient. Four patients are discussed.
