Abstract
In this paper, therapeutic work with an elite, African-American female athlete is described. The focus of treatment was threefold: (1) anxiety management; (2) relationships with coach; and (3) race and social isolation. Strategies used to address each issue are described, as is the general outcome for this athlete.
