Abstract

Linking Servers (a.k.a. Link Resolvers) are becoming more and more an integral part of the library information world, and new linking products are emerging regularly in the market. It is important for libraries to understand which features they should consider when choosing a linking server. Using EBSCO Publishing's link resolver product, LinkSource(tm), as a working example, this article discusses the process of implementing a link resolver, and the resulting benefits to libraries. The Health Sciences Libraries at Hartford Hospital recently purchased LinkSource and share their experience in selecting a linking server, the implementation process, as well as keys to educating their staff and library patrons on the use of LinkSource.
