Meeting the Information Needs of Health Administrators

A Pilot Project

Pages 41-47 | Received 12 Jul 2004, Accepted 30 Jul 2004, Published online: 03 Oct 2008

Abstract

Often traditional health information resources such as clinically related journal articles or research presentations are not relevant to the day-to-day work of administrators, managers, and leaders. In order to meet this need, the North Carolina AHEC Digital Library created a collection of resources for health administrators. This special collection is made up of two parts: one part is a collection of full-text journals that were purchased solely for health administrators. The second part is a collection of Web sites that focus on topics of interest to administrators. This paper will describe a project targeted at meeting these unique information needs of health administrators. Topics include a description of the environment in which the project takes place, an explanation of the project itself, and needs for further research and development.
