Abstract

This paper concerns new healthy aspects of clothing. The research studies were undertaken to determine the influence of natural and synthetic fibres, which were covering transiently the forearm muscles on the activity of motor units in these muscles. The electrophysiological parameters of motor units were measured with electromyographical methods. The results of the tests show, that temporary covering of examined muscles in the forearm with the synthetic clothing changes the pattern of motor units activity. Covering the forearm with the natural clothing doesn't evoke this kind of effect.

The second purpose of this study was evaluating the effect of two types of clothes-linen and polyester on thermophysiological responses during rest and light exercise. The experiment comprised 8 hours of rest, 20 minutes of exercise on the cycle ergometer on the level of 75 W and rest until full restitution (stabilisation of blood pressure and pulse). The basic index of oxidative stress-total antioxidant status, was investigated.
