CLINICAL CORNER

USING PUPPETS FOR BEHAVIOR REHEARSAL IN SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING SESSIONS WITH YOUNG CHILDREN

Pages 61-64 | Published online: 23 Oct 2008

Abstract

One practical problem faced by child behavior therapists in applied clinic settings is constructing opportunities for individually treated children to practice and learn new peer social skills. Many of the role play techniques used with adults seem to lack interest-value when used with young children. A procedure for social skills behavior rehearsal using puppets is described, and its clinical application is discussed.
