Marital Therapy and the Resolution of Gender Role Conflict

Abstract

Marital therapy offers many opportunities to conduct gender-sensitive treatment around problems affected by rigid gender socialization. This paper uses a case example to illustrate the concepts of gender role rigidity, gender role confusion, and gender appreciation, and concludes with four principles for gender-sensitive marital therapy.
