Heat Conduction in the UO₂-Cladding Composite Body with Simultaneous Solidification and Melting

Abstract

The exact solution is found for the transient temperature field and the progress of phase transformation fronts on both sides of an interface separating two semi-infinite regions. The solution is applied to the problem of initially molten UO₂ contacting its initially solid steel “cladding.”
