Abstract

Data warehouses are an important new technology that offers organizations the potential to leverage their information resources far more effectively, and in so doing, ensure their accessibility to organizational personnel, as and when they are required. Whilst previous research has highlighted the importance of information accessibility, there has been little focused empirical research to understand the nature of information accessibility, in general, nor its role in delivering strategic benefits from data warehousing investments, in particular. Consequently, the primary aim of this study was to explore how improvements to the accessibility of strategic information - realized as a result of the introduction of data warehousing technology - were perceived to facilitate the attainment of a range of downstream commercial benefits.
