Psoriasis, Anti-Acne/Polyenes: Potentially Less Irritating Polyenes as Anti-Acne Agents

Pages 643-644 | Published online: 02 Mar 2011

Summary

Novelty: A method for treating acne or psoriasis, using a topical application of retinoic acid derivatives, is disclosed.

Biology: The effect of 4-acetamido phenyl retinoate on the rhino mouse utriculi diameter is evaluated using a concentration of 0.1% w/v (utriculi reduction = 48%). An ethanolonly control is used (ED30 = 0.037 mM at 0.1% w/v and 0.03 mM at 0.01% w/v). A rabbit skin irritation model to assess dermatitis produced by treatment with the compound is also described.

Chemistry: 4-Acetamidophenyl retinoate is one of forty-one specifically claimed compounds.
