Pages 493-496 | Published online: 25 Feb 2005

Abstract

This patent claims the isolation and propagation from a human foetal brain of neural stem cells which are shown to be multipotent and self-renewing, able to correct a genetic metabolic defect and respond appropriately to site-specific developmental cues following transplantation. Such human neural stem cells have significant therapeutic potential for both genetic and degenerative neurological diseases.
