Bissulfonamides as inhibitors of the dehydroquinate synthetase enzyme AroB and of the Type II dehydroquinase enzyme AroQ

Pages 1797-1799 | Published online: 25 Feb 2005

Abstract

A series of bissulfonamide derivatives is reported by Arrow Therapeutics to possess inhibitory properties against the biosynthesis of amino acids and the catabolism of quinic acid. These compounds were prepared by simple synthetic procedures and assayed in vitro for their inhibitory properties of different enzymatic activity of AroB and AroQ enzymes. Some showed inhibitor activity in the low micromolar range, making them interesting leads for the development of new antibiotics and antifungal agents.
