Abstract
A series of benzoic acid derivatives, indicated to be selective RAR-γ agonists, based upon a branched alkyl chain substituted by dimethylchroman or tetrahydronaphthalene rings, are claimed. The claimed compounds are orally-active potent stimulants of alveolar repair and are claimed to be useful in the treatment of emphysema. With activity at daily dosages as low as 1 μg/kg/day the claimed compounds could prove to valuable therapeutic agents.
