Cyclic sulfone hydroxamates as inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases and/or TNF-α-converting enzymes

Pages 121-124 | Published online: 02 Mar 2005

Abstract

A series of cyclic sulfone-based hydroxamates are claimed to be inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and TNF-α-converting enzyme (TACE). Synthesis of one representative example is described. No biological data are given but these compounds are claimed to inhibit MMPs, TACE and aggrecanase. These compounds might be useful to treat chronic diseases such as arthritis and cancer.
