Summary
Novelty: Novel thiazole and imidazole derivatives possessing anti-ulcerative activity are disclosed.
Biology: The compounds are evaluated in an assay for water immersion-induced and ethanol-induced ulcers in rats (30 mg/kg produces 83.1% inhibition compared with 90% inhibition produced by omperazole in the water immersion-induced stress ulcer assay). Data on the antimicrobial activity of the compounds against Heliobacter pylori are also presented.
Chemistry: 5-Chloro-2-[(2-morpholinoethyl)sulphinyl]benzothiazole is one of seventy-eight exemplified compounds.
