Summary
Novelty: Novel pharmaceutical compositions which contain piperidinediones, are disclosed. These compositions are claimed to be suitable for the treatment of AIDS and related diseases.
Biology: Three infected men were treated with 3-phenylacetylamino-2,6-piperidinedione (antineoplaston A10) and a mixture of Na+ salts of phenylacetylglutamine and phenylacetic acid in the ratio 1:4 (AS2–1). In all cases the T4 cell count and T4/T8 ratio increased significantly over a period of several weeks.
Chemistry: A preparative example, which employs conventional methods, is provided. A large number of compounds are possible due to the many possible substituents on the benzene ring. The preferred compound is 3-phenylacetylamino-2,6-piperidinedione.
