Summary
Novelty: Piperidine derivatives, which are said to have potential utility as anti-arrhythmic agents, are disclosed.
Biology: An in vivo rodent study is described. Test compounds were administered (ip) thirty minutes before deep chloroform anaesthesia-induced arrhythmia. The most active compound was found to have a minimum effective (anti-arrhythmic) dose of 25 mg/kg.
Chemistry: 4-(5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-5-ylidene)-1-[4-(N-imidazolylmethyl)cinn amyl]-piperidine is one of one hundred and fifteen exemplified compounds. Preparative details using standard techniques are presented.
